Hope Starts Here

STAY; cultivates a safe, supportive community where open and compassionate conversations about suicide are encouraged.

Our Story

We are in the beginning stages of opening a non-profit organization in loving memory of my son, Austin James Leatherman. We unexpectedly lost Austin, forever 17, to suicide on May 28, 2025. Through our broken hearts we would like to give back to others in providing awareness, prevention and compassion throughout our communities to honor the love that Austin gave everyone he knew.

While we are still in the start-up phase, there are still multiple costs involved. If your heart feels compelled, please consider making a donation to this much needed cause. Simply sharing this link across your social media platforms would mean the world to us as well!

How We Help

A serene consultation space featuring two empty, mid-century modern armchairs upholstered in soft, slate-blue fabric, angled slightly toward each other across a low, natural-wood coffee table. On the table rests an open notebook with a pen, a small potted snake plant, and a folded brochure labeled “STAY; Mental Health Support” in understated typography. Floor-to-ceiling windows reveal a blurred glimpse of Austin’s skyline at dusk, with city lights beginning to glow. Warm overhead and floor-lamp lighting blend with the fading natural light, casting a calming, golden ambiance. Photographed at a slightly elevated angle with moderate depth of field, the composition emphasizes safety, readiness for conversation, and a professional, healing environment.

Crisis support resources, peer groups, and educational workshops.

An overhead view of a large, round, white conference table in a modern nonprofit office, surrounded by empty light-wood chairs with soft charcoal-gray cushions. At the center of the table, a neatly arranged cluster of teal folders, each labeled “Community Partners – Mental Health Initiatives,” encircles a small, thriving green plant in a matte ceramic pot. A faint outline map of Austin’s neighborhoods is printed on a translucent desk pad beneath the items. Soft morning light from tall windows to one side illuminates the scene, creating subtle shadows and a sense of fresh beginnings. The composition is symmetrical from a bird’s-eye perspective, emphasizing collaboration, organization, and united effort in a clean, photographic style.

Community events, resources, and advocacy to raise awareness about mental health and reduce stigma.
